Jazz and Storm Have Great USA Cup
U11 Boys and Girls Teams Have Strong Showings

Topeka Select Storm after their game against Colegios Columbia XI at the USA Cup in Blaine, MN
July 19, 2008 - Topeka Select teams fared well at last week's USA Cup played at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota.

The U11 Girls Jazz made it through to the semi-final round where they lost in a PK heartbreaker to PQ Premier White from San Diego, CA.

The U11 Boys Storm met stiff competition throughout the tournament but played well and made the playoffs.

In the first round, the Storm scored scoring early in the match but was unable to hold back Minnesota's Bangu Tsunami Blue who scored twice in the final minutes to claim a 2-1 victory.

It was a great week of soccer and a memorable experience for both Topeka Select teams.

Congratulations to both the Jazz and the Storm!

Rockets Accepted Into the Midwest Regional League
Best Teams...Best Players...Best Competition

July 16, 2008 - The Topeka Select Rockets U17 Girls have earned a spot in this year's Midwest Regional League.  The MRL only accepts the top teams in the midwest, so this is major accomplishment for the Rockets.

"Teams earn the right to compete in the MRL based on play within their own State Association‘s competitions (thus receiving State Association approval); and must exhibit the level of play necessary to compete at the regional league level (review and approval of teams by the MRL).  Not all teams that apply are accepted into the MRL."

The Rockets will be joined in their division by top teams from Kansas City, St. Louis and Omaha.

Klaus Kreutzer To Rejoin Topeka Select
Will Coach U12 Girls In Fall 2008

April 30, 2008 - Topeka Select is very proud to announce that Hayden Coach Klaus Kreutzer will take over the girls U12 team in the upcoming season.  After several years absence it's great to have him back!

Klaus has been a multiple Coach of the Year honoree while at Hayden and led the Wildcats to the girls state high school finals in 2002.  On the club side, his Topeka United U18 Girls brought home the Kansas State Cup trophy in 2001.

Klaus also made life-long memories for his Topeka United team in 1999 when he arranged for a two week tour of Germany, Austria and France to play matches with European girls teams.

Klaus is one of the most respected coaches in the area and we are thrilled to have him back with Topeka Select.  For players, coaches and families of all our teams, his knowledge and experience will be very helpful.

Please help us in welcoming back Klaus!

Topeka Select Jazz Take 2nd In Springfield
Storm U11 Boys To Semifinals

April 6, 2008 - Topeka Select teams had good showings at the Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper Friendship Cup this past weekend in Springfield, Missouri.

The Jazz U11 girls, who earned a spot in the finals had to fight their way through a tough semifinal game.  Down a goal, with only 20 seconds remaining, the Jazz found a way to put the ball in the net and force the game into overtime.

After two five minute overtime periods, neither team was able to produce a winning goal which led to a penalty kick shootout.  The Jazz won in PK's and took a 2-1 victory into the finals. In the championship game, the Jazz fought hard before falling to Springfield.

The Storm U11 boys played up in the U12 bracket, making a good run to semifinals.  The boys won all three pool games and lost to the U12 Blue Valley Stars team in the semifinals.

Congratulations to the Jazz and the Storm!
