Topeka Select U12 Boys Win In Season Opener
August
17, 2008 - The
Topeka Select Storm went undefeated in
their first tournament of the season and
captured the KC Select/Blue Valley SC
Midwest Kickoff Classic championship,
Sunday, August 17th.
In the finals, the Storm was trailing 1-0 with less than five minutes remaining when a direct kick, just outside the box, resulted in goal, leveling the score at 1-1. The game remained tied through overtime. The Storm won the PK shootout to clinch their first championship of the fall season.

17, 2008 - The Little Apple Kickoff
Classic U14 boys division championship
went to the Topeka Select Rangers. The
Rangers advanced through pool play with
a 2-1-0 record, including wins of 7-2
and 5-1, before dropping a contest to
the Salina Speed.
The Rangers got their revenge in the end as they advanced through the semi-finals with a 3-1 victory and defeated the Speed 2-1 on a golden goal in the first overtime.

Girls Take Championship In Manhattan

17, 2008 - The Topeka Select Rockets U15
Girls began the season by winning the
Little Apple Kickoff Classic this past
weekend in Manhattan.
The U15 Rockets went undefeated in the U16 division to bring home the gold.
The Rockets started the tournament with a 5-0 win against Wichita United, then beat the U16 Lady Cats 2-1, won 5-2 against Shawnee Elite in their third game, and finished the tournament with a 2-0 win over LT Impact.

Girls Start Season with First Place Finish
August 3, 2008 - The U17 Rockets were crowned Champions of the U18 division at the Azzuri Shootout August 2nd and 3rd in Omaha, Nebraska.
A 2-0-1 record in pool play, advanced the Rockets to the semifinals.
The Rockets beat South Dakota State Cup Champions, Dakota Gold, 2-1 in the semifinals. This set them up to play the Chili Peppers in the finals. After a scoreless game, the Rockets took the gold on a 4-3 shootout win.

Monhollon, a Shawnee Heights junior and
goalkeeper for the
U17 Topeka Select
Rockets, was selected to the United
States Youth Soccer Region II Girls
Olympic Development Program pool team
after competing at a regional camp in
DeKalb, Ill.
Selection to the region team gives Monhollon the possibility of making future United States National teams.

the fall season. Here's a reminder that proper hydration is important any
time of year, but most of all during hot weather.
Parents, coaches and players are encouraged to adopt a
good hydration and nutrition routine as the new season
